Pre pandemic, I was able to partake in a painting trip to the Dordogne region of Southwestern France.

From our home base near the small village of Gourdon, our group would make short excursions to explore the countryside.

Soaring cliffs, medieval water mills and castles were all within an hour's drive.

Despite these constant reminders of an ancient history, my overall impression of the area was how much it reminded me of rural Ohio. The long shadowed mornings and heightened warm colors of summer fields all spoke to me.  Additionally, the quaint and distinctly French little houses had a beckoning quality to them that I was quite drawn to.
